How To Support Your Hormones In Stressful Times

Hormonal Imbalance, Every Girl Africa

Stress is one of the biggest causes of hormonal imbalance in women. That’s why supporting your hormones can be the best thing you gift yourself this year.

Hormones are substances produced by the endocrine glands that have a tremendous effect on bodily processes. They affect growth and development, mood, sexual function, reproduction, and metabolism.

Too much stress can not only cause an irregular menstrual cycle and infertility in women, it can also result in a decreased libido in both men and women.

And because stress also triggers mood swings and irritability, a hormone imbalance can also lead to personal problems.

It can be too easy to dismiss what’s going on inside your body, without trying to figure out what it’s really about. With work and the rest of life going on, it’s important to pay close attention to how you feel, and your reactions to stressful situations. Then, you may be able to identify and treat a potential hormone imbalance a lot quicker.

Reduce stress and eliminate hormonal imbalance with these tips:
  1. Provide your body with plenty of healthy fats to reduce insulin resistance and appetite.

Insulin resistance occurs when your cells have difficulty responding to insulin.

If your cells develop a resistance to insulin, your body may try to compensate by making more insulin. If your pancreas is able to make enough extra insulin to help glucose enter your cells, glucose levels may stay in check.

However, if your pancreas is unable to make enough insulin to keep up with demand, then it can lead to prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.

Avoid saturated fats and choose heart healthy fats like olive oil instead.

  1. Poor sleep has been linked to imbalances of many hormones, so be sure to get enough restorative sleep.
  1. Practice daily meditation, mindfulness and/or deep breathing exercises.Β
  1. Minimize your consumption of caffeine and alcohol.
  1. Enjoy the fantastic benefits of drinking green tea.

Green tea is loaded with antioxidants that have many health benefits which may include an improved brain function, fat loss, protection against cancer, and lowering the risk of heart disease. What do you have to lose?
